Why PCM matters

It responds when the room gets too warm.

PCM changes phase near a chosen comfort temperature. As the room warms, it absorbs excess heat without becoming much hotter itself. When cooler night air returns, the material releases that stored heat and resets for the next day. That daily cycle softens indoor temperature swings and reduces the need to overcool.

Absorb the peak

Takes in excess heat as the room warms.

Hold steady

Stores heat near its phase-change temperature.

Recharge at night

Cool night air resets the material for tomorrow.

Step 03 — Your room

This Studio is only for homes and individual rooms. Commercial projects now use a separate calculation workspace.

5 quick building questionsRefine load

This changes transmission, solar and internal heat gains — not just floor area.

Step 04 — Supplemental cooling

Studio sizes passive measures and PCM first. Only after that quantity is fixed does it add the minimum active control needed for the remaining comfort gap.

Baseline case: no active room-cooling capacity is credited.

Model credit: 0 W room heat removal. PCM quantity is not reduced.

Step 05 — What do you already own?

Anything you own is marked “Reuse yours”. The rest gets “Partner pick” — never a forced bundle.

PCM quantity, fan quantity, price and comfort results appear only after this calculation.

Step 02 — Thermal screening

Public calculation basis

P90 design warm dayERA5 2015–2024 · 24 hoursThe 90th-percentile daily peak, with night temperature and solar conditions from the same warm-day band.

One public model is used for every PCM quantity. It represents roughly the hottest 10% of warm-season days and is a decision estimate, not a performance guarantee.

Extreme multi-day heatwaves can prevent overnight PCM regeneration; active cooling is the correct fallback in that condition.

Complete the building information below, then calculate. PCM usage is hidden until that step.

Day and night speeds are controlled separately. Boost automatically returns to a lower mode after 2 hours.

Results wait for your inputs

The P90 climate basis is preset. Describe the building, then calculate.

The PCM module quantity, fan quantity, price, comfort curve and any compressor portable-AC recommendation will appear together after you click the calculation button.

How it works

Your furniture. A full charge cycle, every day.

Passive-first: the system uses night air whenever the climate allows, and borrows your existing AC only for the toughest nights.
